BOARD OF TRUSTEES MEETING
November 13, 2018

PRESENT:                     Hickman, Jones, Starnes, Sarver, Savage, Frost and Priest 

ALSO PRESENT:           Mullen

ABSENT:                        Guebert and Caringer

Visitor(s):                     None

The meeting was called to order at 6:29 PM by President Savage.

No correspondence. Starnes moved to approve the minutes from the October meeting.  Frost seconded.  Motion carried unanimously.

TREASURER’S REPORT:

  1. Bills to be paid. Frost presented the treasurer’s report. Priest moved to approve the payment of $3,569.13 for expenses incurred during the 2nd half of the previous month and $4,266.86 for expenses this month to date.  Sarver seconded.  Motion carried unanimously.
  2. The October budget report shows that 49.8 % of the expense budget (50% of the year completed) has been spent leaving a checking account balance of $252,736.09.  Starnes moved to approve the city budget report.  Priest seconded.  Motion carried unanimously.   Sarver moved to approve the library balance sheet report for October 2018.  Jones seconded.  Motion carried unanimously.

LIBRARIAN’S REPORT:  Mullen reported the circulation was Increase by 8%  as compared to October of 2017.  Mullen presented other library usage statistics including graphs showing October Circulation statistics for the past 9 years.

ILLINOIS HEARTLAND LIBRARY SYSTEM REPORT & ILA News:  Mullen reported from the October Director’s chat, the IHLS has 520 members, 28,141 square feet of service area, access to 10 million plus items, and 3.9 million plus items were delivered last fiscal year.

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

Building and Grounds (Priest & Jones): No Report

Community Enrichment (Sarver): School Art Teacher will be delivering children’s art.

Library Development & Technology (Savage & Caringer):  No Report

Special Gifts Committee (Guebert & Frost): No Report

Friends Liaison (Starnes): The Friends .25 cent October book sale made $296.05. The Christmas sale will be December 1st and 3rd, and will also be a 25 cent sale. The friends approved $816.32 for Library purchasing requests. 

History Room: (Hickman): No Report

OLD BUSINESS:  

  1. No Old Business

NEW BUSINESS

  1. Priest moved to approve the levying for the “Library Property Tax Levies” for 2018 tax year collectible in 2019. Starnes seconded. The motion carried unanimously.
  2. The Holiday Schedule for 2019 was reviewed and approved. Starnes moved to approve the Holiday Schedule for 2019 and Frost seconded.
  3. The Annual Christmas Party will be December 11, 2018, immediately following the regular monthly meeting. The December meeting will begin at 6:00 pm in the Library Study Room.
  4. Mullen introduced new databases available at the library: General One File & The Testing & Education Reference Center.

No Executive Session.
