BOARD OF TRUSTEES MEETING
April 14, 2020 via Zoom Video Conferencing

PRESENT:                     Caringer, Frost, Guebert, Hickman, Jones, Priest, Sarver, & Starnes

ALSO PRESENT:           Mullen

ABSENT:                      None

The meeting was called to order at 6:30 PM by President Starnes.

Visitor(s):                     None

No correspondence.

SECRETARY’S REPORT:  Priest moved to approve the minutes from the March 2020 meeting.  Guebert seconded.  Motion carried unanimously. 

TREASURER’S REPORT:

  1. Bills to be paid. Priest moved to approve the payment of $1,789.13 for expenses incurred during the 2nd half of the previous month and $3,671.91 for expenses incurred this month to date.  Caringer seconded.  Motion carried unanimously. 
  2. The previous month’s city budget report showed that 92% of the budget 92% of the year completed) has been spent leaving a checking account balance of $166,653.14. Frost moved to approve the report.  Sarver seconded.  Motion carried unanimously.
  3. Financial Balance Statement: Jones moved to approve the library balance sheet report from previous month.    Guebert seconded.  Motion carried unanimously. 

LIBRARIAN’S REPORT:  Mullen reported that daily circulation for March was up 4% as compared to the same month a year ago.  The library was open 12 days in March.  Facebook Story Time Online has been well received.  Mullen presented several updates she has made to the library’s website to present online options/activities. Other statistics were reviewed.

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

Building and Grounds (Priest & Jones):  No report.

Community Enrichment (Sarver):  No report.

Library Development & Technology (Savage & Caringer):  No report.

Special Gifts Committee (Guebert & Frost): No report.

Friends Liaison (Starnes): No report.

History Room: (Hickman): -No report.

NEW BUSINESS:

  1. Frost moved to approve the proposed Health Emergency Response Procedures Policy. Priest seconded.  The motion carried unanimously.
  2. Nominating Committee: Caringer moved and Sarver seconded to approve the following slate of officers: President: Kathleen Jones, V. President: Steve Priest, Secretary: Barb Guebert, Treasurer: Jennifer Frost.  The motion carried unanimously.
  3. Other New Business:  President Starnes reported that a CD was maturing at Banterra Bank, on 4/22/2020.  Mullen reported that she would research extending the grace period considering conditions and would report back via email.  Update:  The Board voted unanimously (online) to move the CD to First Southern Bank at the rate of 1.05% for 28 months.
