The meeting was called to order at 6:29 PM Kathleen Jones.
Visitor(s): None
Correspondence: None
Secretary’s Report: Calcaterra moved to approve the minutes from June 13, 2023.
Frost seconded. Motion carried unanimously.


Treasurer’s Report:
A. Bills to be Paid: Frost moved to approve the payment of $2,431.11 for expenses
incurred from June 14-30 and $3,489.36 for expenses incurred from July 1-11.
Caringer seconded. Motion carried unanimously.
B. City Budget Report: Last month’s report shows that 17% of the budget has been
spent, with 17% of the fiscal year completed, leaving a checking account balance
of $57,546.06. Caringer moved to approve the report. Calcaterra seconded.
Motion carried unanimously.
C. Financial Balance Statement: Frost moved to approve the Library balance report
from the previous month. Maloney seconded. Motion carried unanimously.


Librarian’s Report:
Circulation for June 2023 was 8% greater than June 2022. The Library currently has
5,430 registered borrowers and 41,811 volumes in its collection. 1,424 patrons used the
Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC) from home in June. Website visits in June totaled
2,066 page views. Director Mullen attended the IHLS Director’s Chat session via Adobe
Connect on June 22. The Summer Reading Program has been a great success so far,
with the Grand Opening, The Giant City State Park Program, Animal Tales and The
Science Center Wow Show all well attended. The HCL hosted Harry Spiller: Murder in
the Heartland on Friday June 16; 22 people attended the event.
Children’s Librarian’s Report:
Summer Reading Program Notes

  • Grand Opening 6-8-2023
    o 56 children registered for the program. 45 children and 33 adults attended.
  • Giant City State Park 6-15-2023
    o 31 children and 24 adults attended.
  • Animal Tales 6-22-2023
  • 49 children and 34 adults attended.

Committee Reports:

  • Friends Liaison (Maloney):
    o Book sale very successful.
    o Friends approved $563.98 for Susan’s Wishlist.
    o Next in-person meeting is in August.
  • History Room (Hickman): No report
  • Building and Grounds (Priest, Jones): No report
  • Community Enrichment (Sarver): No report
  • Library Development and Technology (Caringer): No report
  • Special Gifts Committee (Guebert, Frost): No report

  • The BoT reviewed the HCL Americans with Disabilities Act Compliance Policy.
    Calcaterra moved to adopt the revised policy. Maloney seconded. Motion carried
    unanimously.
    Adjournment: Maloney moved to adjourn at 6:47 PM.
