Libby is here! Herrin City Library has added the new digital resource: OverDrive!
We’re excited to announce that OverDrive (the Libby App) has been added to the digital resources at Herrin City Library! Libby is a free app, available for Apple, Android and Windows devices. Libby makes it easy to borrow eBooks and eAudiobooks from your phone and tablet. Overdrive (Libby) was made possible by a gift from the Tony Galines Foundation.
What is Libby?
Libby is a free app where you can enjoy ebooks, digital audiobooks, and magazines from your public library. You can stream titles with Wi-Fi or mobile data, or download them for offline use and read anytime, anywhere. All you need to get started is a library card.
For more information about digital resources at Herrin City Library visit our Digital Resources Page.
Getting started with Libby
Go to the Libby Help Page for directions. With Libby, you can enjoy free ebooks, digital audiobooks, and magazines from your library. All you need is a library card & pin number.
Is the Libby app free to use?
Yes, Libby is completely free. The Libby app is free to install, and all the digital content from your library in Libby is free to borrow with a valid library card. There are no subscription costs, no in-app purchases, and no late fees. (Digital titles are automatically returned on their due dates.)
What devices are compatible with Libby?
You can download the Libby app on?
- iOS 10+ (get it from the Apple App Store)
- Android 7.1+ (get it on Google Play)
- Newer Fire tablets (get it from the Amazon Appstore)
If you have a Windows computer, Mac computer, or a Chromebook, you can use Libby in your web browser at libbyapp.com. We suggest using the latest version of Chrome, Safari, Firefox, or Edge.
Is Libby the same as OverDrive?
Libby is built by OverDrive. Libby features the same free digital content from your library that you may have enjoyed in the OverDrive app. However, Libby was designed to make finding, borrowing, and enjoying free digital titles easier than ever.
This new resource will not replace our existing digital resource, the 3M Cloud Library. Herrin City Library patrons will have access to both of these!
