Herrin City Library Remembers September 11, 2001
September 11, 2001: The Day That Changed The World
During this 22nd anniversary year, we would like to share these lessons with a new generation, teach them about the ongoing repercussions of the 9/11 attacks and inspire them with the idea that, even in the darkest of times, we can come together, support one another and find the strength to renew and rebuild. Join the library in never forgetting, but still looking forward.
On Sept. 11, 2001, Al Qaeda terrorists hijacked four passenger jets, crashing three into the Pentagon and both towers of New York City’s World Trade Center. The fourth plane, United Airlines Flight 93, crashed in rural Pennsylvania. The attacks resulted in more than 2,970 deaths and the destruction of the World Trade Center.
