The Herrin City Library hosted their annual Open House on Sunday, April 24, 2022. There were 51 people in attendance. We provided refreshments, fun activities, prizes & more! Prizes include two AMC movie tickets, $10 gift cards to the Polar Whip, $20 Chuck’s BBQ, Louie’s P&R Gift Basket, an Echo Dot Smart Speaker, $10 in Library Cash, Squishmallows & More!!!! We offered information about library resources, signing up for Summer Reading, and information about joining our Friends Group. We also highlighted the official opening of the Herrin History Room Decades Timeline in the Reading Lounge area of the library. This event was free and open to the public. The Friends of the Herrin City Library held their Annual Business Meeting at 1:30 pm in the library’s “Tony Galines Memorial Meeting Room.” This was the 27th Annual Meeting of the Friends which was chartered in April 1995. At the Open House & Annual Meeting, the Friends presented their Annual Business Report for 2021-2022, and held Election of Officers for the 2022-2023 Fiscal Year. The Friends have done much for the Herrin City Library over the past twenty-seven years. They have sponsored new computers, receipt printers, new books for the Children’s Collection, Large Print titles for the Adult collection, library supplies, and helped with the purchase of special supplies, and sponsored the costs of the Summer Reading Program.
