HAHS – JULY 16 HAHS Guest Lecture Series Program
The Herrin Area Historical Society guest lecture series presents, Years of Free Care Giving (How to Survive,) by Emalene Wilcox, on Friday, July 16, 2021, at 2:00 pm in the Tony Galines Room at the Herrin City Library. Herrin historian,community activist, 60 year member of Herrin Woman’s Club and longtime member of Herrin First Baptist Church, Emalene Wilcox will give a review of her most recent book, Years of Free Caregiving (How to Survive.) This book is available at Amazon and Barnes and Noble.
Mrs. Wilcox will speak about her own journey of caregiving for her family. She notes the thousands who work for various agencies, alliances, senior citizen groups and private and corporate serives who provide care for individuals. She says, “Caretakers can find their best assistance in engaging the three qualities needed: patience, prayer and push.” A discussion will follow the book review.
This event is free an open to the public. Masks are optional for adults, but are required for children ages 3 – 17. HAHS invites anyone interested in Herrin area history to join the society. Guest lectures will be presented August through December with dates and information to be released in early August. HAHS brochures are available at Herrin City Library.
