A Visit to Ancient Rome:
May 19 – June 9, 2018 in celebration of HerrinFesta Italiana.
Come with us as we unveil the sights and secrets of this 2,500-year-old city that attracts millions of visitors annually. In the periodical section of the library, you will “visit” tourist favorites like the Vatican and the Trevi Fountain and marvel at a hand-made Roman mosaic. You’ll see wonderful art by one of the world’s most renowned masters – Michelangelo – and learn some “Rome Fun Facts” taking place not far away. You will also “walk” through Ancient Rome where gladiators battled, emperors reigned, and togas were an accepted mode of dress. You’ll discover Rome’s amazing history, see the sites and miniature models, peek at Roman coins, and marvel at intricate arches and aqueducts. You’ll learn the secrets of Rome’s concrete, and the “quest for truth” legend (Bocca della verita’).
