Old Glory Flies Over Herrin City Library
“The Herrin community should be proud,” said Susan Mullen, library director. “Through its determination and dedication, the Herrin City Library has a new flagpole and American flag. It is a powerful symbol of our freedom, and I am honored to have played a part in getting it here,” adds Miss Mullen.
The flag and pole were donated by patron Joyce Dinnis. The Herrin City Library extends a special thank you to Joyce for making this happen. Thanks to generous donors like Joyce, the Herrin City Library has been able to improve the services offered by the library. Not only has the library been expanded and enlarged through donations, but the collection has grown. At the base of the flag is a plaque donated by patrons Greg and Susan Thomas in appreciation of Joyce Dinnis’ generous donation.
At the Herrin City Library, the flagpole represents the crowning touch on a library that has been widely praised for its design and function. Having the American Flag waving out front makes a substantial statement to the front of the library. The Herrin City Library will have a flag pole dedication ceremony coming up very soon!
