Illinois Department of Employment Service Update

Registration for work with the Illinois Employment Service is a general requirement for an individual to be eligible for Unemployment Insurance benefits.  An individual who files a new Unemployment Insurance claim on or after July 17, 2016, and is subject to the registration requirement, must complete registration by logging on to Benefits will not be paid until registration is complete. An individual’s responses to questions on the application for Unemployment Insurance benefits will determine whether or not registration is required.
